My First Calling

So I forgot to mention the other day when I finally updated my blog that this past sunday I got my first calling. At about 12 o'clock that day I got a phone call from a strange number, and well I hate answering calls from numbers I don't know..so..I didn't answer. They proceeded to leave a message saying that one of our counselors wanted to meet with me a few minutes before church. My first thought was that they were going to ask me to speak but usually they will just call you about stuff like that and then my mom informed me..they are probably going to give you a calling. I was some what nervous because I've never had a calling before and wasn't sure if I could live up to the ridiculously high standards that my new ward seems to have (it's true they expect more out of each member in that ward than any ward I've been to, not that it's a bad thing just a little intimidating). So I go into church and sit patiently waiting for Brother Shmidt to come get me, and sure enough I got a calling. To my relief however it's quite a simple one, I was called to be co-chair on the fellowship committee, which to my understanding invovles holding the new member meeting every other week after relief society/priesthood. The girl that I'm replacing is really cute and showed me everything I needed to know, and she says that she usually bakes a treat but I didn't have to..hello!..that's probably going to be my favorite part I need all the practice I can get and treats are perfect for saying WELCOME we're so glad that you are here.

{$50,000 Wedding Giveaway}

Last saturday we got the opportunity to participate in the $50,000 wedding giveaway. Spencer and I headed up to Provo for a day of wedding vendors and excitement. We ended up having a lot of fun, our favorite vendor was "shutter booth" at least I think that's what their name was..anyways they rent photobooths and we decided that it would be awesome to have one at our wedding so we'll see. I have pictures but they aren't on my computer yet so I'll upload them later. After visiting all the vendors everyone gathered around the stage for the raffle and give away. We got really excited and anxious even though we knew there was a slim chance of winning, when it came time to read the name of the winners the lady picked the name and started out by saying NICOLE...and for about two seconds we got really excited but it ended up being another really cute couple standing behind us. So even though we didn't win it was still a fun experience and i'm glad we got to spend the day together, and I cannot wait for our wedding to finally get here!

LEGOS!

I miss being a kid, I always say I can't wait until we have kids so I can play with their toys and have an excuse to go see their fun cute movies again. Well we decided to take a trip down memory lane and play legos!! I looovved it and i'm pretty sure Spencer loved it to! Here are some pictures of our Lego time..
The big mess of all the legos

Spencers sweet cars that he made

The inside of my awesome hut thingy I built

Oh to be a kid again..it was fun to pretend at least for one night! Maybe we can take a trip to legoland sometime that place at least from what I remember is AMAZING, I don't know how they do it, it was hard enough building my little building I can't even imagine trying to build anything even comparable to the stuff they have there..

Golfing

This past week was spring break, and Spencer and I made a list of all the things we wanted to do..we didn't get around to most of them because Spencer got sick but we managed to do a couple and golfing was one of them. Orignally we were going to play a round of golf but it was pretty windy so we decided to just go to the driving range. I was actually the one that suggested golfing which was a big surprise to Spencer, but I've decided that if we are going to get married we should both try and do some of the things each of us loves and Spencer LOVES to golf so I thought i'd give it another shot.

Well Spencer has a lot more skills than I do but it was still so much fun. He kept trying to correct my form and when I listened I actually got some pretty good shots in. I'm excited to work more on my game so I can play a real round of golf and hopefully keep up with him this summer. Thanks babe for being such a good teacher, I love you!

Happy Birthday Alex!

Last monday we got to celebrate our friend Alex's 25th birthday. We went to dinner at Happy Sumo and the Jazz game with him and his fiance Anne.

On our way to dinner
Dinner was so yummy we haven't had sushi in awhile so it was quite the treat. It has been a long time since we've gone to a Jazz game so it was so much fun to be able to go, it was a good game and even better because we won! We don't get together with Alex and Anne as much as we'd like so we were happy we got to spend some time with them and celebrate Alex's birthday!

Yesterday in class we talked about how your beliefs can help or hurt your success. I really liked this list so I thought I'd share it with you all.
Beliefs of Successful (Resilient) People

1. Everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves us.

2. There is NO such thing as failure. There are only results/outcomes.

3. Whatever happens, take responsibility.

4. It's not necessary to understand everything to be able to use everything.

5. People are your greatest resource.

6. Work is play.

7. There's no abiding success without commintment. W.I.T.-whatever it takes

"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"

Taxes

I was really nervous this year about my taxes because I had not only my individual taxes to do but my business ones as well. Every year my mom has always done my taxes for me but this year she wanted me to do it myself! I was nervous and at first overwhelmed but my mom was there to help and answer my questions. It took me 4 long hours but it wasn't so bad and I am very happy that my mom forced me to do it because I learned a lot and now I will be able to do mine and Spencer's taxes next year, which will save us some money. Now all I have to do is sit and wait for my checks to arrive :) hopefully I didn't screw them up and the irs won't come after me...
